sweet sidewalk love
lately i've been noticing lots of lovely little tags/notes/graffiti on the sidewalks of toronto. where are these coming from? are they promoting a band? a show? something? anything? or are they just sweet nothings left by fellow torontonians?

the wilderness downtown
the release of Arcade Fire's new interactive music video for the single we use to wait, has proven, once again, that their talent goes beyond the scope of music. The Wilderness Downtown, created by Chris Milk in partnership with the band and Google, is a nostalgic little trip down memory lane.
This is not the first time the band has pushed the boundaries of new media and have given us something above and beyond, but it's definitely my favorite. enjoy.

Brusse ♥ Love
i just discovered the work of Brusse this morning. i can't seem to find out too much about this guy except for the fact that he's inspired by love. all his work seems to be is based around the expression of love, relationships and emotion; and is divided into three sections:
streetlove
"Creating an interaction between people and love represented by objects, words or paintings on the streets, in order to make people thing and rethink their relationships, their own situation and love itself."
love injections
"Extraordinary ways to surprise the one you love."
and spray love
"Love, emotions and relationships symbolized on a canvas."
sweet and simple moments of love. i like. i mean love.

the haimster...RIP
It's a sad day for us kids of the 80's as teen heartthrob and tiger beat pin-up boy, Corey Haim, died this morning of an accidental drug overdose.
Tonight i'll break out my best slouch socks, sport a side ponytail and cuddle up to my favourite boglin as i watch The Lost Boys for the hundredth time :(
"Look at your reflection in the mirror. You're a creature of the night Michael, just like out of a comic book! You're a vampire Michael! My own brother, a goddamn, shit-sucking vampire. You wait 'till mom finds out, buddy!"

RIP Mark Linkous
Rolling Stone confirmed yesterday that singer-songwriter Mark Linkous, frontman of the U.S-based band Sparklehorse, has committed suicide.
His family has released a statement reading, "It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and family member, Mark Linkous, took his own life today. We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free. There's a heaven and there’s a star for you."

everything all the time...
toronto-based band, everything all the time, featured on southern souls
"Southern Souls collects performances of the most prolific active musicians from Southern Ontario in out-of-character locales. Every street, park, or city bus is a potential venue. Inspired by La Blogoteque's Take Away Shows, and Just So's Black Cab Sessions - it aims to show that music (and its makers) are everywhere."
